What is a Podcast?

The Basics:

A podcast is an internet-based audio program. Once produced, podcasts are available for download to a computer and then ultimately, to an MP3 player. The benefit to adding the podcast to your MP3 player is the ability to listen to the program while you are away from your computer or at a different time than the original podcast.

The term podcasting is a combination of a popular brand of portable music players and “broadcasting.”

How Do I Subscribe?

You can always listen to a podcast from Peterson's by clicking on the MP3 link. Your ability to listen to an MP3 file in “streaming” mode will depend on your individual browser and media player settings, as well as your Internet bandwidth. To listen to the MP3 while you are not connected to the internet, download the MP3 to your computer.

If you want to receive future podcasts automatically, you will need to install an RSS aggregator that supports podcasts, or software such as iTunes (version 4.9 or later). Once installed, add the URL for a Peterson's podcast feed, and it will do the rest of the work for you—downloading new programs automatically to your desktop or portable music player.
